Muscle tightness can be caused by multiple factors and maintained due to multiple problems. Often treatment for this issue is needs to involve multiple providers as well. Massage, chiropractic care, stress management, and posture training can all improve neck tightness. At times though even with this treatment tightness seems to never go away. Injection treatment and ultrasound is a great next step. Often a muscle injury such as a partial tear is present and will lead to the muscle itself or surrounding muscles to be tight.

Fascia is also a connective tissue surrounding muscle that if tension has been chronic will not allow for muscle relaxation easily. The fascia becomes tight and often chronic inflammation develops making crystal formation of the fascia layer between muscles. An injection with ultrasound guidance allowing for separation of this layer and more fluid motion between the layers can relieve tension quickly and for a longer duration. Continued relaxation and stretching frequently are needed but the muscle tension will improve rapidly.
